BAND BIOGRAPHIES

Bill Travis -
(Leader) - Bill began playing drums at the age of 12 and played for dance bands during the swing era of the 40's and 50's, and on into the 60's. In 1966 he put his music career on hold to become an airline pilot for Pan Am World Airways. Now retired from the airlines, Bill is a full time professional musician.

He now operates and books his 17-piece big band and several small bands. The small bands are variety dance bands that perform various types of music, including jazz, swing, big band, Sinatra, standards, Rhythm and Blues, Motown, Rock and Klezmer.

Dana Bauer -
(Vocalist and alto sax) - Dana is a full time professional musician who has been singing all of her life, and is equally comfortable performing with small combos and big bands. She has a beautiful voice, and as a new project, is preparing to do voice-overs, where the artist records her voice for animated film characters.

Prior to joining The Bill Travis Orchestra, she performed on a national tour in the orchestra for the musical company of "Les Miserables", and on a Europe and Asia tour in the orchestra for the musical company of "A Chorus Line".

The Other Musicians -

The other band members consist of full time professional musicians, and people who hold day jobs in a variety of professions and play music as a second profession. These musicians have played at music festivals around the country, in Las Vegas casinos, and with other large swing and jazz orchestras. Some have worked with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, New York recording studios, the Sacramento and San Jose Symphony Orchestras, San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, Bob Hope, the Maynard Ferguson Big Band, Anthony Newly, Mel Torme, Dianne Carroll, The Fifth Dimension, and others.
